Wig Size

Average wigs fit heads 21.5" - 22.5".  99% of people fall into this category.  Wigs have adjustable velcro and elastic tabs at the back so you can adjust your wig for a more secure and comfortable fit.

Choosing a Colour

Firstly, you need to be aware of your skin tone, skin tone usually falls into 3 categories - Cool, Warm or Neutral.  A good guide to ascertain your skin tone is to look at the veins on the inside of your arm just above your wrist.  If the veins are blue in colour this suggests you have cool toned skin, if the veins are green this suggests you have warm toned skin and if you do not fall into either category this suggests you have neutral skin tone.  Hair colour should make your complexion and eyes look bright and glowing and not drain the complexion.  An example, if you are choosing a blonde coloured wig - warm/gold/orange base wigs complement warm skin tones.  Cool toned skin works better with ashy/whiter base blonde wigs.  Once you know your skin tone, why stick with one colour?  You can explore other colours. Just think of Beyonce and Rihanna who wear many different colours & hairstyles, they have neutral skin tone, in terms of blonde they look better in warm/gold/orange base blonde wigs. Experiment with different colours to see which enhance your complexion and eyes by placing various colours next to your face to ascertain which works best for you.  Also, be aware of your makeup and the amount of bronzer you use this can dramatically alter your skin tone.

If you don't know your colour/colour code or simply wish to explore other colours, Colour Rings are the best option for choosing your wig colour ie a synthetic colour ring for synthetic wigs and/or human colour ring for human wigs.  Please email us if you wish to purchase a colour ring.

Synthetic -v- Human Hair Wig?

Todays quality synthetic wigs are visually indisguishable from human hair and synthetic is cheaper and easier to care for.

What wig will suit my shape face?

Most face shapes are usually one of five basic shapes - Oval, Round, Square, Oblong, Heart/Diamond.

The easiest way to determine face shape it to stand in front of the mirror, pull your hair back away from your face and ask yourself what is the widest part of your face - your forehead or your jaw, maybe is neither and your cheekbones are the widest.  Look at your chin is it pointy, round or square?  Picture an imaginary line going around your face - what shape is it?

Choosing the best hairstyle for your face shape depends on which styles you like, which suit your lifestyle but above all which hairstyle will look the most flattering on you!!

Heart Shaped faces - ideally hairstyles should draw focus to the eyes and cheekbones.  a side swept fringe, keep layers long and avoid short, blunt cut bangs at all costs.

Oval Shaped faces - lucky you, you can pull off nearly any hairstyle or hair shape.  There are no limits to hairstyles for your face shape.

Square Shaped faces - usually this means you have a strong angular jaw which is a great asset, best hairstyle is something with a lot of texture, curls, choppy ends or even short spikey cuts are ideal for you.

Round shaped faces - sometimes can be challenging, you need to make the face appear longer and leaner.  Hairstyles with less volume around the face, shoulder length hair with soft layers is the ideal style.

Oblong Shaped faces - hairstyles that dont appear to drag your face down adding length.  A chin length bob will give the illusion of width so anything along these lines is good.  Avoid pixie cuts as they will make you look like a little girl.

 Caring for your Wig(s)

When you are not wearing your wig, store on a mannequin or wig stand to keep its shape.  Depending on your environment and how much you perspire from the head we recommend washing hair every 7-14 days of wear.

Washing your Wig

Ensure the wig is tangle free either using a wide tooth comb or finger combing.  Spray with with luke warm water and add some Baby Shampoo and smooth it down the hair, rinse and repeat as necessary. Gently fingercomb the wig while wet and hang to dry.  The wig depending on environment will be dry within an hour.

Common Wig Terms

1:Capless wigs are the most common and affordable design. Wefts of hair are sewn onto the cap, which has a closed lace layer at the crown. The hair is cut and styled into a specific style and the crown is often teased or crimped so you cannot see down through to the cap. This type of cap often gives the hair volume at the crown.

2:Lace Front wigs create the illusion of natural hair growth along the hairline. This adds to the natural appearance of a wig and allows for styling away from the face. Some come pre-trimmed and are ready to wear while others will require some personalization

3:Full Lace caps allow each hair to move freely for the most natural look. The whole cap is hand tied and it is very comfortable to have a full lace wig,so the full lace cap is more expensive.

4: Monofilament caps offer a very natural look with parting versatility. The mesh material gives the illusion of hair growth from the scalp and allows for individual, hand-tied hair. As a result, hair can be parted and combed in different directions. Monofilament wigs can be monofilament at the part, crown or entire top of wig.

There are advantages to both and many people choose to have human hair and synthetic hair wigs on hand for different circumstances. Human Hair offers the most natural look and feel. It is remarkably soft with a shine and movement that is not easily duplicated in synthetic hair. It is also extremely versatile. Human Hair can be cut and styled to suit your personal tastes. And while it can be a more expensive pick, with the proper care, it is also more durable and can last over a year. With technological advances, synthetic hair has come a long way in recent years. In some cases it is difficult to tell the difference -- the denier and texture are such that they feel almost like human hair. As a matter of fact, with some of the higher quality synthetic pieces, you would never know they were not natural human hair if you didn’t have the human hair right next to it to compare!

Caring for your wig:
We recommend our customers to comb a wig from the bottom to the top. In order to prevent hair falling. How to store your wig? A wig cap is needed. It will maintain the hairstyle of the wig. How to style your wig? Professional suggestion-Go to a hairdresser. If you want to diy at home, we suggest you use a comb and a spray to make your hairstyle. As well designed as our wigs and hair pieces are, on occasion a little trim or a reshape might be just the thing to ensure the wig / hairpiece sits perfectly with your face shape. Also, lots of the fringes on our wigs are long so that they can be brushed to the side and you may want to change the fringe so that it goes straight across your forehead. If you choose to cut your wig we advise you take it to the hairdressers so that you can put it on and the hairdresser can cut it whilst you are wearing it. We strongly advise against you cutting a piece yourself unless you are a qualified hairdresser . The hairdresser will be able to advise you on what will and won't look good with the style of wig you have purchased. If you want to bring a new lease of life back into your wig the we advise you follow our 'Care Instructions' as this will make your wig look shinier and healthier.

1:Wash the human hair wig to remove any product buildup or dirt and oils. Allow the wig to air-dry, or blow-dry 24 hours before coloring the wig.
2:Use a large-tooth comb to separate the human hair into four sections. Comb the human hair wig to eliminate tangles.
3:Use an at-home coloring system. Mix the color mixture in a plastic bowl or add system contents to the bottle provided. The process is easy: Simply follow the directions provided by the manufacturer. In most cases, you must combine a colorant to a color developer. An after-color conditioner will be applied later.
4:Mix content thoroughly and then put on gloves. Open a window for ventilation.
5:Place the human hair wig on a Styrofoam mannequin head, if available. Pull down on the human hair wig to secure to the head. Avoid pulling the hair, as the wig may slide off the mannequin head.
6:Add color, starting at the top of the wig. Think of the top of the wig, where it is woven or sewn into the cap or lining, as the root of the wig. Always apply from the top and move around the crown of the human hair wig. Once the crown is covered, move down each section, working your way to the ends of the human hair. Then move to the next section.
7:Allow the dye to sit for no more than 25 minutes. Human hair is subject to drying, breakage and loss of sheen. Avoid overprocessing your human hair wig by following the directions provided.
8:Aid a light conditioner to the hair for 3 minutes. Dry and then style as needed Note: As synthetic hair dyeing needs professional chemical dyes and vat, so we do not recommend that you to dye a synthetic wig by yourself at home. If you really have this needs, you can go to a barber shop, and find a professional dyeing master, they will give you professional advice .

Both human hair and synthetic wigs can be washed, they also have a waterproof function. But it does not mean they can be soaked in water for a long time, prolonged soaking will damage the wig no matter how good it is.
